What are the best things to do in the Finger Lakes Region?
Canandaigua Lake and the surrounding Finger Lakes Region offer something for everyone. Spend the day boating, kayaking, paddleboarding, or relaxing at the beach, then explore nearby hiking and biking trails, scenic waterfalls, award-winning wineries, breweries, and distilleries. Popular attractions include Sonnenberg Gardens & Mansion, the Canandaigua Lady, Bristol Mountain Aerial Adventures, Roseland Waterpark, Grimes Glen, and the charming shops and restaurants of downtown Canandaigua.
The best time to visit Canandaigua Lake depends on your preferences. Summer (June to August) is ideal for water activities and outdoor exploration. Fall (September to November) showcases stunning foliage and is perfect for wine tours. Several local marinas offer boat and watercraft rentals on Canandaigua Lake. We recommend Seager Marine and Sutter’s Marina, home of the Fleet Boat Club, for pontoon boats, speedboats, and other lake activities. Kayaks, paddleboards, and additional water sports rentals are also available throughout the area.
